President's Message
On behalf of the Tumwater Education
Foundation, I would like to say THANK YOU to the students, parents and
teachers of the Tumwater School District, along with our local
businesses, for your generous support of our activities.
Thanks to these combined efforts, the Foundation awarded more than
$26,000 in scholarships to the Class of 2005. An additional $17,000 in
memorial scholarships were awarded to these students. Teachers in our
district took advantage of more than $2500 in Classroom Enrichment
Grants.
This last November, the parents and students of the Class of 2006 hosted
a first-ever Business and Community Expo to raise funds for
scholarships. This was one of several events to raise funds. Other
activities included “Dollars for College Scholarships” as well as
participating in several community events, such as the Tumwater 4th of
July Parade, the annual Kick in the Grass Soccer Tournament and the
Heritage Festival. These activities raised approximately $7000 for
scholarships for these students.
During the 2005-06 School Year, our teachers applied for and received
more than $4500 in Classroom Enrichment funds.
We need your support more than ever to continue to provide these
opportunities for our students and teachers. Plan to attend the
Scholarship Auction to benefit the Class of 2007 (watch our website for
more details) or consider an ongoing donation through the annual United
Way campaign or the state employees Combined Fund Drive. If you are a
Tumwater School District staff member, you can contribute directly to
the Foundation via payroll deduction. The Foundation charges no
administrative fees, so your donation goes directly to scholarships or
classroom enrichment grants.
Again, THANKS for your support. Hope to see you at the Auction.
