Rick, Jimmy, and Jennifer Memorial Scholarship

Rick Dial and Jimmy Peile lost their lives in an automobile accident in 2002 during their senior year at Black Hills High School. Jennifer Champion was a student at Black Hills High School and would have graduated in 2002.  She died of Ewing's Sarcoma bone cancer.  This scholarship was established in their honor. It is our intent to award a scholarship annually to a student from Black Hills High School who best represents Rick, Jimmy and Jennifer:

someone who has overcome adversity during their high school career

someone who has a strong character

someone who is goal oriented

someone with maturity, compassion, and motivation towards success.

CRITERIA

 

Recipient must be a graduating senior from Black Hills High School.

Recipient may attend a four year, two year, technical, or private college.

There is no minimum GPA requirement.

Recipient must submit a supplemental application in addition to a senior portfolio. If the student has not submitted a senior portfolio additional items must be submitted for review.

Recipient must demonstrate how he/she overcame adversity during their high school career.

Recipient must demonstrate his/her love of music.

Recipient must demonstrate his/her maturity, strong character, compassion and motivation towards success.

The Tumwater School District Scholarship Committee will select the recipient.

How will this scholarship contribute to your life goals through a post-secondary experience?

How do you define success?

Why do you feel you deserve this scholarship?

Applicants without a Senior Portfolio must submit the following

Attach an academic history and senior attendance report.

Attach a statement describing your life goals and how you plan to reach them. Be sure to include the name of the college you plan to attend and your major area of study (if known).

Attach a resume that includes your high school and community activities and awards.

Applications should be turned in to the BHHS Career Center
